Algeria Currency:
The
Algerian Dinar (DZD) is the title of the Algerian currency. The
currency has been in use since 1964 when it replaced the Algerian
Franc shortly after independence. One dinar is divided into 100
centimes.
Coin denominations in use are for 2, 5, 10, 20,
50 and 100 dinars. Banknotes are available for 100, 200, 500
and 1000
dinars.
Currency exchange:
Currency can be readily exchanged at foreign exchange bureaus
and major banks especially in Algiers. It is advisable though
to travel with common major currencies such as US$ which is much
easier to change in even smaller towns.
