The
Comorian Franc (KMF) was adopted as the Country’s currency
in 1981 and was then strongly tied to the French Franc. The currency’s
issue is regulated by the Comoros Central Bank.
Denominations:
Coin denominations exist for 2, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 Franc.
Banknotes exist for 500, 1000, 2000, 2500, 5000 and 10000 Francs.
Exchange Rates against major currencies:
At the time of writing (June 2006), 1 $ US was equivalent to
395.6 Franc and is pegged to the euro at a rate of 491.9677 francs
per euro.
