The
Djiboutian Franc (DJF) is the official currency of Djibouti. The
currency is closely tied to the French Franc from which it was
adopted. French and Arabic are used on banknotes and coins.
Denominations:
One Djiboutian Franc is equivalent to 100 Centimes, though coins
do not exist for values lower than 1 Franc. Coin denominations
exist for 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 500 Francs. Banknotes
exist for 1000, 2000, 5000 and 10000 Francs.
Exchange Rates against major currencies:
At the time of writing (June 2006), 1 $ US was equivalent to
182.353 Djiboutian Franc, 1 British Sterling Pound was equivalent
to 331.989 Franc and 1 Euro was equivalent to 228.746 Franc.
