Health in Djibouti:

HIV/AIDS is not at the moment as widespread as in other African Nations. It is estimated that about 10,000 people are living with the condition in Djibouti, which is about 3 % of the population. Food and water hygiene are still a problem even in Djibouti City; and malaria is one of the main health risks.

Medical insurance is highly recommended for travelers to the country and should include emergency evacuation.

Medical facilities in the Country are underdeveloped and some institutions regularly face bed and drug shortages. The key hospitals in the country are found at the capital and include; the Djibouti Bouffard Hospital and the Peltier General Hospital.
