Gitega:
Gitega
is one of Burundi’s major cities and is the second most populous
in the Country after Bujumbura. It is the administrative capital
of the Gitega Province and features prominently in the Country’s
tourist itinerary.
Gitega is an important cultural centre and
is home to the Literature Center and National Museum.
Other attractions in the City include; local art and craft featuring
ceramics, sculptures and carvings and paintings. The City is
situated at the Centre of the Country and is reachable from Bujumbura
by road. The City was the residence of the Mwami (King) of the
now defunct Burundian monarchy.
