Cote d'Ivoire Economy:
One
of the largest producers of cocoa beans, coffee and palm oil,
agriculture is the chief economic activity in the Ivory Coast.
Exports from
agricultural commodities account for more than 90% of the country’s
foreign exchange earnings.
The country also has small petroleum
reserves and most of this is consumed locally. Important industries
in Cote d’Ivoire are; food processing, textiles, motor
vehicle assembly, petroleum refining, ship building and repair,
electricity
generation, port activities, timber, construction materials.
Other agricultural products are; maize, cassava, sweet potatoes,
bananas, rice, rubber, cotton, sugarcane and timber.
