Kano:

One of Nigeria’s largest cities, Kano is situated in northern Nigeria and is the administrative capital of Kano State. The city is home to an estimated 3 million people and is third largest in terms of population behind Lagos and Ibadan. The city was established at about the year 1000 as a capital for the Hausa kingdom established here.

Kano then played a key role in the trans-Saharan trade and was a major centre as well as transit route for slaves, ivory, gold and leather. The city is linked to Lagos and Port Harcourt by rail.

The Mallam Aminu Kano International airport situated in the outskirts of the city operates a number of regular flights to domestic and international destinations.
