Kisumu
is one of Kenya’s larger cities situated on the shores of
Lake Victoria in western Kenya. The City is the administrative
capital of Nyanza Province and is a major center for trade and
commerce in the region. Fishing is one of the main economic activities
here and the fish is sold in the city and other parts of the country.
Kisumu is an important starting point for tours of Lake Victoria
which usually includes a visit to the Rusinga and Mfangano Islands.
The town is also situated near the Kisumu Impala Sanctuary which
features impala, leopard, hyena, baboon and monkeys.
Kisumu also has a number of entertainment options including;
cinemas, restaurants, bars (many of which feature live entertainment)
and discotheques.
Transport:
Buses and matatus travel regularly between Kisumu and Nairobi;
and also link the city to other towns around the country. Kisumu
is also linked to Nairobi via a railway line. The City is served
by the Kisumu Airport which is served by regular flights by Kenya
Airways from Nairobi.
