Lusaka:
Lusaka
is the capital and largest city of Zambia. The city is also the
centre for commerce and trade and a key transport hub. Lusaka is
home to an international airport situated about 15 km from the
city centre, which handles the majority of domestic and international
flights in Zambia.
The city has an estimated population of 1, 264,
684 residents and is also the administrative centre for the
Lusaka Province and District.
Lusaka was established as a small trade centre when the railway
line reached here in 1905 from southern Zambia. It was chosen
as the administrative capital of the Northern Rhodesia colony
in 1935 and also the capital of the independent Zambia.
Tourism in Lusaka:
Lusaka is an entertaining city and here you will find movie
theatres, restaurants, pubs and nightclubs. Other places of interest
in the city are; the Lusaka National Museum, the National Assembly
Building and the Lusaka Show Grounds. The city is within easy
reach of the Lilayt Game Lodge and the Kafue National Park which
is about 60 km from the city. Kafue is the largest game reserve
in Zambia and one of the largest in the world.
