Food in Madagascar:
French,
Indonesian and Malay influences are significantly present in modern
day Madagascan cuisine; providing it with a uniqueness from other
traditional African dishes. Rice is the staple food of Madagascar
and is grown in many places around the country.
Curries are usually
served with the rice and consist of beef, veal, fish, chicken
or vegetables. Fresh vegetables and tropical fruits are easily
available
and are sold fresh at local markets.
Most restaurants serve local cuisine and you will find the greatest
range in the Capital Antananarivo.
