Food in Madagascar:

French, Indonesian and Malay influences are significantly present in modern day Madagascan cuisine; providing it with a uniqueness from other traditional African dishes. Rice is the staple food of Madagascar and is grown in many places around the country.

Curries are usually served with the rice and consist of beef, veal, fish, chicken or vegetables. Fresh vegetables and tropical fruits are easily available and are sold fresh at local markets.

Most restaurants serve local cuisine and you will find the greatest range in the Capital Antananarivo.
