has a steady developing tourism industry. The country is known
for its unique geographical formations, vegetation, culture, wildlife
and beaches. Tourism in Madagascar is one of the key industries
in the country. Many tour operators presently offer packaged trips
for visits to the island. Interesting places to visit include;
Local Markets: in even some of the small towns, there is bound
to be a street market or bazaar. These sell a variety of interesting
handmade craft items and foods. Most notable is the street bazaar
in Toamasina.
Ankarana National Park: the feature attraction within reach
from Antsiranana town in northern Madagascar; the park encompasses
a small mountain which features interesting limestone formations.
The park has a number of caves that can be explored on foot and
wildlife here includes; lemurs, crocodile, gecko and bats.
Antananarivo (city of a thousand warriors): There are a number
of interesting places to visit in the city such as; the local
craft markets selling a variety of interesting curio items, the
zoological park and museum, the prime-ministerial palace, the
crocodile farm and the historic palace.
Ranomafana National Park: a rainforest reserve in eastern Madagascar
near the town of Fianarantsoa. The park is one of the most popular
in Madagascar and is famed for its rich vegetation, bird, marine
wildlife, lemurs and reptile populations.
