football nation. The country’s national team known as “the eagles” has
won a number of regional tournaments and has featured four times
at the Africa Nations Cup.
Its best result to date at this tournament
is reaching the finals of the 1972 tournament where it lost
to the Republic of Congo. Mali also represented Africa at the
2004
Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
