Mauritius
has a liberal media, government influence in the reporting of news
is minimal and the country’s constitution pledges freedom
of speech and expression. Electronic media in the country is however
still dominated by the government which runs the Mauritius Broadcasting
Corporation. This body operates a number of radio and television
stations in the country.
Newspapers in Mauritius:
There are a number of privately owned news agencies in the country.
Newspapers and periodical magazines are printed in English,
French, Creole and local languages. Leading papers are; Le Mauricien,
Le Matinal and L’Express. These are all available online.
Radio stations: popular stations are; Top FM, Radio One, Radio
Plus and MBC run stations; Taal FM, Kool FM and One World FM.
These stations are also available online.
Television:
The Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation operates three stations;
MBC 1, MBC 2 and MBC 3.
