Mauritius
has a population of about 1,240,827 people. A culturally diverse
nation, the main ethnic groups here are; Creole, Sino-Mauritanian,
Franco-Mauritanian and Indo-Mauritanian. Hindu, Christianity and
Islam are the main religions in Mauritius. English though not very
popular is the official language. Other languages widely spoken
are Creole, Bhojpuri and French.
This rich cultural mix has resulted in a colorful nation and
has translated to among other things the local cuisine here.
Mauritian food is popular for its rich flavors and tantalizing
tastes.
