Mopti:

Another of Mali’s prominent cities, Mopti is the administrative capital of the Mopti region. The city consists of three islands on the River Niger and the port here is one of the busiest in the country.

Said to have been founded at around the 19th century, Mopti grew in prominence during the time of the Massina Empire. The city is presently served by the Mopti Airport with frequent flights by Air Mali International from Bamako.
