Moroni:

Moroni is the Capital and largest city of the Comoros Islands. The City has a population of approximately 45,000 people. Moroni is the main commerce and trade centre for the Comoros. The City is situated on the Grand Comore (Njazidja) Island.

Moroni is also an important transport hub home to the Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport, the key airport of the Comoros.

The airport is the main hub for Air Comores which flies regularly from here to a number of domestic and international destinations. There is also an important port which is a terminal for water transport between the island and the African mainland.

A feature attraction near the city on the Grand Comores Island is the Mount Karthala Volcano, one of the largest active volcanoes in the world which last erupted in 2003.
