Like
a number of African nations, HIV/AIDS is a major health problem
in Nigeria. It was estimated in 2003 that there were 3.6 million
people living with the disease in the country. Other health problems
are related to poor sanitation, malnutrition and natural environment.
Decent health services can be found in major towns and cities
around the country. There are a number of government run hospitals
and clinics, though these may be sometime poorly run with problems
even obtaining medication at times.
There are a number of private
clinics and hospitals as well in cities such as Lagos and Abuja.
These are generally much costlier.
