Media in Nigeria:
The
media in Nigeria is relatively unregulated and government control
is limited generally to government owned media houses. There are
a number of independent newspaper, radio and tv stations operating
in the country.
Broadcast and print media are usually in English
and local dialects. Popular daily English newspapers are; the
Abuja Mirror, Daily Champion, Guardian, Newswatch, Post Express,
Punch,
Today and Vanguard.
Film Industry: Nigeria is home to one of the thriving film making
industries in Africa. The country’s film industry known
as “Nollywoood” produces films which are viewed in
a number of African countries. The main movie houses are based
in Abuja and Lagos.
