Segou:

Segou, a city situated north-east of Bamako is one of the largest cities in Mali. The city has an estimated population of 100,000 inhabitants and is one of the most populous in the country. Segou is also the administrative capital of the Segou region.

The city is believed to have been founded at around the 17th century by the Bozo people and flourished in the following century as the capital of the Segou Empire.
