Senegal Currency:

The CAF Franc (XOF) is the title of the Senegalese currency. The currency has been in use in the country since the French colonial period.

The currency is still used by a number of former French colonies in West Africa and is exchanged at a fixed rate of 100 CFA Francs = 1 French Franc. The currency was introduced in 1945 to replace the French Franc. Each CAF Franc is equivalent to 100 centime. Currency denominations commonly used at present are:

Coins: 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 200, 500 franc
Notes: 500, 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000 franc.

The currency can be exchanged against major international currencies at banks and exchange bureaus in Dakar. The Dakar airport too has a foreign exchange facility.
