Agriculture
is the mainstay of the Senegalese economy. The country’s
agricultural sector produces; peanuts, millet, maize, sorghum,
rice, cotton, tomatoes, green vegetables, cattle, poultry, pigs,
fish. Major industries in the country are food processing, fishing,
phosphate mining, fertilizer production, petroleum refining, construction
materials, ship building and repair.
Currency: the CAF Franc (XOF) is the title of the Senegalese
currency. The currency has been in use in the country since the
French colonial period.
