One of Ghana’s key cities, Takoradi is the administrative capital of the Western Region. The city is located off the Gulf of Guinea, southwest of Accra.

Takoradi is an important centre for trade and commerce in the country. Takoradi (also known as Secondi-Takoradi) is home to a number of key industries such shipbuilding and repair, timber and food processing.

The city’s port is linked to inland Ghana by rail and port activities here are also an important aspect of the city’s economy.
