Togo:

Togo is a West African nation situated off the Bight of Benin between Ghana and Benin. The country is a former French Colony which attained its independence on the 27th of April 1960. Eyadema ruled until his death in 2005. His son Faure Gnassingbe was handpicked to take-over power which resulted in widespread protests and led to the first legislative elections later that year.

Lome, situated in the south of the country is the capital city of Togo. The nation is further divided into the five administrative regions of Centrale, Kara, Maritime, Plateaux, Savanes.

Togo has a population of about 5, 548, 702 people. The country’s main ethnic groups are Ewe, Mina and Kabre. French is the country’s official languages and a number of local languages are widely spoken.
