Tripoli Airport:
The
Tripoli International Airport is the key airport in Libya which
serves the city of Tripoli. The airport is situated about 30 km
from the city centre at the town of Ben Gashir. The airport, opened
in 1978 is the main hub for national airline; Libyan Arab Airlines.
Other airlines operating flights to and from here are; Air Algerie,
Air Malta, British Airways, EgyptAir, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines,
Air Maroc, Lufthansa, Sudan Airways, Swiss International, Tunisair.
Transport to and from the airport consists mainly of taxis and
minivans (common form of commuting in Libya). Shuttle services
are also offered by some hotels within Tripoli.
