Tripoli:

Tripoli is Libya’s capital city, situated in the north western part of the country on the shores of the Mediterranean. The city is also the largest and most populous in the country home to an estimated 1.7 million people. Tripoli is the main center for trade and commerce in Libya, and is home to the key port as well as a number of the country’s manufacturing and processing industries.

An historic city, Tripoli was established around the 7th Century BC by the Phoenicians who were amongst the first group of people to settle in present day Libya. Presently, the city offers a number of historic sites and monuments; a testament to its long history. Other places to visit are; the National Museum, the Tripoli Medina (old town), Medina Museum and a good number of mosques.

Transport: the city is served by the Tripoli International Airport, the airport is situated about 30 km from the city centre.
