Uganda Food:
Matoke
is a dish made from steaming green bananas known as matoke. These
are steamed and then mashed and are eaten with vegetable, stews
or peanut sauce (which can be very tasty). Matoke is the staple
food in Uganda since the bananas are grown around the country.
Ugali which is made from maize meal is also popular
as well as rice. Most of the country’s foods are produced locally
and a majority of Ugandans buy their fresh fruit and vegetables
at
open air markets.
Restaurants:
Kampala has the largest selection of restaurants in Uganda. The
city’s
eateries offer a variety of cuisine including; Indian, Chinese,
Italian, Mexican and African. Fast
food is also available and a number of franchises such as;
Nandos, Pizza Inn and Dominos are in operation in the city.
