The Volta River:

The Volta is a large river that through Ghana. The river’s main tributaries; the White Volta and Black Volta merge in central Ghana. The Black Volta rises in western Bukina Faso, while the White Volta (Nakambe River) rises in southern Burkina Faso.

Lake Volta is the largest man-made lake in the world. The lake situated after the convergence of the White and Black Volta Rivers was formed in 1965 following the construction of the Akosombo Dam. The dam was built for use in hydro-electricity generation.
